History revealed
This is a very interesting history of a relatively unknown theatre of the Napoleonic wars; the French Navy's campaign to interrupt the flow of goods from British India via East India Company vessels. Their efforts were largely successful, with many British ships sunk or taken and significant loss of life. The upshot was a major diversion of English naval resource to protect the trade and ultimately to destroy the French bases in the Indian Ocean. Unknown History
This book was the basis for a seminar that I attended last month in Canada. I've long been collecting coins and tokens from England but never realized how much turmoil was going on between the major countries of the world regarding the passage of ships to India.
