The landmark film in a beautiful new 4K presentation
I was able to buy this 4 disc set at a truly bargain price because the very honest seller admitted that the accompanying Blu Ray disc was defective in its manufacturing. The author of the disc, Criterion, indicated that a free replacement could be obtained- I was able to get that replacement and now have a pristine 4 disc set. It is impossible to overstate the importance of Citizen Kane in cinematic history. It remains a marvel of collective creativity. It was fortunate that Welles, a genius in his own right, was totally receptive to the expertise offered to him by cinematographer Gregg Toland, editor Robert Wise, special effects wizard Lynwood Dunn, and composer Bernard Herrmann. I believe the 4K edition does offer some improved clarity, but depending upon the edition owned, the preceding Blu Ray disc is perfectly satisfactory in terms of image resolution and contrast. If this 4 disc set can be purchased at a discount, any cinephile would want to have the “latest and greatest” version of this unique film.

Classic film packaged with first lots of extra goodies!
Nice packaging courtesy of Criterion as always. Contains 4k and standard blu ray discs of the classic film. Also has 2 more blu ray discs filled with extras to explore. If you are a fan of classic cinema this is a no brainer.
