"Switched-On Bach: the CD"
Well I happen to have the ORIGINAL 1968 LP, "Switched-On Bach" by Walter Carlos (I first heard it and bought it as Walter back in the very early 70s so Walter it shall be for this review). Actually, I first heard "The Well-Tempered Synthesizer" at a friend's house (long before hearing the "Clockwork Orange" OST) and i was so captivated by it that I wanted to know what other work Carlos had done. i was refered to this gem that started it all, helping to bring classical music to the American music charts starting in 1968. Back then, the synthesizer was quite the revolutionary instrument and is expertly applied here to J.S. Bach's most well known masterpieces. This CD is exactly as the LP with the exception of an epilogue, so to speak, consisting of rough cuts of some of the tracks and Carlos' comments.

nostalgic!
i've been waiting years for the price of this cd to come down to a reasonable level. someone must have thought it was made of gold. it's a great cd. i bought the LP when it first came out but i can't play it in my car. now i drive down the road with a big smile.

Superb remastering
This is by far the best-sounding version of Switched-On Bach I've ever heard, and I bought the original LP when it was first released and I know it intimately. For fans of this work, this is the one to get, as far as I'm concerned. A groundbreaking piece of work, without doubt.

Bach+moog+Wendy=bliss
This is not available on iTunes for some reason. And it's way better than Switched On Bach 2000. I never get tired of listening to it. Shear genius. Bach himself would have loved it, I'm sure.

Walter/Wendy Carlos at his/her best.
Wanted this for a long time. Price paid was the cheapest by a mile. Well pleased. High quality recording on CD. Brought back so many memories.

Have it on vinyl, but sounds so much better on cd!
I bought this on vinyl back when Wendy was Walter. My favorite cut is the Brandenburg Third, but the entire album sounds good.

Switched on Bach--newer version soundtrack and speed not acceptable.
This new CD lacks the sound quality of the original 1990's release. The soundtrack is speeded up ( a mistake with classical music), to make room for an unnecessary interview with the composer. The over all sound is tinny with poor bass. Disappointed.

PERFECT
My vinyl got ruined when the basement flooded and had a few scratches. Now I can listen to this one in the car, and on my walkman when I go for a walk,!!!
