Excellent drama by Victoria Wood
Originally saw this engaging drama on TV but now pleased to have my own copy, which was great value. Good fact-based story of a working class family in wartime Barrow. Well acted with interesting characters; Mrs Waite is one of my favourites here. Nostalgic, true to life and recommended; .

The Snowball Effect.
We watched this program on TV several weeks ago. Decided it was so good that we bought the DVD. Then we bought another DVD for my sister-in-law. We added two of the Diaries to form a Xmas present. We watched our own DVD on Xmas Day. Our house guests now want their own copy of the DVD as well. Having given the books away we now need to buy another set for ourselves. Well done Nella. Well done Victoria Wood.

Victoria wood will surprise you in this adaptation of life in the 2nd world war !
I’d seen this advertised when it was on tv, I was put off by the title if I’m honest but don’t let this fool you. Victoria wood brilliantly adapted one persons take of her life during the war years. Touching story, fantastically acted by Victoria wood and the cast. So glad I gave this a chance. Watched many many times now !!

First class drama
Victoria Wood is outstanding in this war time drama. As ever she is very observant with touches of sadness and black humor. A beautiful portrayal of life on the home front in the North West of England. It will make you laugh and cry.

This is a fantastic film, very good incite to what it was like in the war. One woman's accounts of her life, in war torn times. Its a true story, of hard and good times, happy and sad. Very enjoyable to watch.

Great film & Great acting
The amazing Victoria Wood does it again. Faultless characterization and utterly believable. The film has managed to capture the feel and atmosphere of WW2 and the immediate postwar Britain beautifully

An Excellent Drama and fantastic acting
This is a brilliant Drama. Fantastic acting from Victoria Wood and Christopher Harper. Can watch this DVD several times and not get bored with it. A very good purchase made.

In my opinion, Victoria Woods' best ever work! Not only writing it, but starring too as the irrepressible brave and totally loyal, Nella Last... I laughed and cried at this incredible and true story... Highly recommended
