"The health-care conundrum, representing almost 20 percent of GNP, challenges even the brightest minds. Dr. Schimpffe(tm)s insights and unraveling of a very complex industry will in fact help drive change in this country and influence the national platform. A must-read for all health-care executives." e"Sarah E. Sinclair, MBA, BSN, RN, FACHE, executive chief nursing officer and chair of the Stanley Shalom Zielony Institute for Nursing Excellence, Cleveland Clinic, "Dr. Schimpff collects the insights from front-line health-care leaders to explain the coming disruptive changes that will impact our care delivery, and he offers sensible advice on what government, medicine, and individuals can do to improve care delivery while reducing the costs." --Dr. Mehmet Oz, " The Future of Health-Care Delivery is a brilliant synthesis of perhaps America's greatest fumble. Dr. Schimpff dissects the U.S. health-care system with a razor-sharp scalpel and makes sense of a puzzle that has eluded this country for decades. Every business owner, politician, physician, hospital, health-insurance company, and patient should read this book. Patients would receive better care, health care would cost much less, doctors would have the time they need to coordinate care, everyone would get the care they needed, and we would all be healthier if the health-care industry would follow the principles laid out in this book. Thank you, Dr. Schimpff, for this most valuable contribution to one of our country's greatest challenges." -Darrell T. Moon, MHA, Chief Executive Officer, Orriant, Inc., a national wellness company, and Forbes leadership contributor, "Dr. Schimpff describes in easily understood language the shortcomings of the present system and the disruptive trends that must be addressed by governments, health care professionals, and individuals." --James Bentley, retired senior vice president, American Hospital Association, The health-care conundrum, representing almost 20 percent of GNP, challenges even the brightest minds. With unsustainable costs coupled with a fragmented delivery framework, health care is in urgent need of reform. Dr. Schimpff, a seasoned health-care executive, capably sheds badly needed light on an all-too-complicated subject." e"Eli Y. Day Professor of Biology, Brown University, "Without sacrificing a nuanced discussion of ideas, Dr. Schimpff explains clearly and persuasively what must be done to save, and to improve, health-care delivery in America. His engaging conversational style, unique insights, and fascinating treasury of cutting-edge information will leave lay readers and medical professionals alike turning the pages of his important new book. There are few more engrossing stories than the adventure of what awaits our minds, bodies, budgets, lifespans, and societies as new technologies change our world. Slabbert, coauthor with Aris Melissaratos of Innovation, the Key to Prosperity: Technology and America's Role in the 21st Century Global Economy, Everyone should read this book; it will open your eyes to the reasons why health care costs so much yet is beset with so many interminable problems. Synopsis
Approximately 100,000 deaths per year in the United States result from preventable medical errors. This figure is about twice the number of people who die in car accidents and five times the number of murder victims annually, and twenty times the number of servicemen and women killed in Iraq and Afghanistan since the start of hostilities in 2001. If you think Americans have the best health-care system in the world, think again. In this deeply researched and controversial book, Dr. Stephen Schimpff explains why our health-care delivery system serves us so poorly, why it costs so much, and why government policy over many decades has not only failed to improve care delivery but has actually made it worse. In the process, he dispels common misconceptions about medicine and health care. The Future of Health-Care Delivery provides timely information and a road map to achieve world-class care delivery, putting health care where it belongs--in the hands of the patient and medical professionals instead of the insurance companies and government., If you think Americans have the best health-care system in the world, think again. In this deeply researched and controversial book, Dr. Stephen Schimpff explains why our health-care delivery system serves us so poorly, why it costs so much, and why government policy over many decades has not only failed to improve care delivery but has actually made it worse.

Although this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate.

I've ordered several items from this vendor now and they've always been what they were advertised as. This was no exception. Both discs were in great shape as well as their jewel cases. Delivery is good, packaging is simple but effective for what you're paying and I haven't had any get damaged. Will keep buying from this vendor because of the results so far and good prices, too.
