A Film Like No Other
Dune is a very good Sy-Fy film. It is bizarre, but once you get into it you will find it is unique. The reason why I like Dune, the story-line is great; and you have the whole good versus evil going on. It's a space saga different than Star Wars, it will never beat Lucas' masterpiece's, but it can stand on it's own. What I like about the product is it come in a steel case with Dune terminology, and the theatrical/extended editions are on one disc. Great product and price!
I love the extended version of DUNE. I had this on vhs for the longest time and I was fortunate enough to find the extended version on dvd. Only complaint I have is that the dvd skipped over a couple scenes. I had to rewind them and I was able to watch the entire movie.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

David Lynch nah, Mr "Alan Smithee" is a far better storyteller
The extended version was a revolution the first time I saw it. Though reworked to the point David Lynch no longer wanted his name on the film. The DNA of his work is still palpable. Very In Indepth Si-Si Movie..Some people may need to watch more than once to understand & enjoy it.
This movie is very deep.I remember seeing in the theater back in the day & really didn't understand it but when it was played on HBO I watched a couple of more times the I really understood it.I think it is one of the best Si-Fi flicks ever made just remember it is not a bang,bang shoot-me-up movie.I recommend it to anyone that likes deep Si-Si.The only problem I think as other have referred to is the extended version has segments cut out of it as remember this movie was about 3.5 hours long.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

A Jihad which will cleanse the Universe,
After much reading and research I realized Earth is not a Planet. With this knowledge I still love this Science Fiction Classic as I've read all the Dune Books (5 Novels) by Frank Herbert. This sanctioned (or not) by David Lynch movie version is a very good attempt at this very extensive story line, and the (Horus/Moses/Akhenaten) character played by Kyle Maclachlan will forever be Paul Atreides to us, and Sean Young is Chani. If you think this movie is bizarre then you should read the Novels. The extended DVD version is much better than edited, and this 2 sided DVD Disc has both versions. Great version of a unique film
Love this version of Dune--for someone who has not read the book, it does a much better job of setting up the background and explaining relationships and even certain motivations. Also, I was happy to see that a few of the gross scenes with Baron Harkonnen were left out. I didn't feel that they added anything to the original, and I actually used to speed past them because I found them so unpleasant.
