Are we still living a lie?
A friend from Greece sent me a book called the "The Great Lie" which is a greek author Michael Kalopolous,,,very compelling and well written... Makes a great case for the historical version of the the events of the bible...A time when the "human intelligence was in a fragile and innocent stage of development" may have been hijacked by some pretty shrewd "Individuals" ...Possibly to further their own purposes, survival, greed? Awesome well researched, well cited, ton's of historical references, about the where the bible got it stories from where the Jesus myth came from.
What a great book, I can't put it down! I was already quite aware that Christianity is a gumbo soup of older myths and folklore. But to get a complete run down of how this sect was started, where the stories came from and from what group and why is marvelous and compelling. I have no idea where the comments about this book "not being well written" are coming from. I will assume that it is from hurt highly religious trolls that never even read the book. Since they never backed up their statements with, why or how the books is "poorly written". Besides those reviewers being upset that the Jesus story is made up. After being told for their whole entire lives that it was real. This book is set up like a analytical historical text book that one would read in undergrad. Maybe that is why people were saying that it is poorly written, because they have never read a scholarly book that uses footnotes, references.... She cites nearly EVERYTHING! and has a table and figures, you name it and it's there for the reader to do their own due diligence. If the reader wants to dig future or fact check the author. The author backs up every statement with a time period, or which other religious story x,y and z came from in the bible. It may hurt many readers feelings and cause a strong bout of cognitive dissonance, to learn that the Jesus character along with the bible is nothing more than a made up story. That was taken and weaved together from many other older stories, myths, religions before it. But it is what it is, that's life. But saying that this book is "poorly written" is not going to change facts or bury them. If people want to continue to live in their happy "Jesus is real" bubble, then do NOT buy this book. READ THIS BOOK AND FREE YOUR MIND!
Excellent read, which could be considered the companion to a much older book by Kersey Graves entitled "The World's Sixteen Crucified Saviors."
