A Potential Cult Favorite
This movie is set in the Pacific Northwest. An intermittent running narrative supplied by Aubrey Plaza (the girl around whom the story is told) ties the tale together. She and two associates work for a magazine. While brainstorming for the next issue, a lackadaisical senior reporter notices an advertisement placed in a local paper for a companion with whom to time travel. The line "safety not guaranteed" piques his interest and, with 2 junior associates, convinces his female boss to let him pursue this story of interest, if nothing more than to escape the office. The rest of the movie is set pursuing the story. They attempt to interact with the kook who placed the ad, but discover it isn't as easy as they first anticipated.
The lackadaisical reporter has an ulterior motive for pursuing the story, which has nothing to do with their assignment.
The movie's humor is understated, which makes it very entertaining.
But, as I said, it leans toward a cult genre, so you will either love it or shrug your shoulders. I loved it. If you have a sense of humor, I'm betting you will, too. The ending will surprise you.
