Authenically, True Grit
This remake of the original 1969 True Grit, with John Wayne, is more Authentic in every way. Jeff Bridges shines as Rooster Cogburn. He creates a very believable character. I just can't say enough about Jeff Bridges acting in this movie and in my opinion, makes this movie worth watching. The cinematography is true to the time and serves to place you squarely in 1880's Oklahoma. I never truly liked the 1969 movie however, this 2010 remake, makes this movie a favorite in my collection. exceptionally well done movie. See it with anyone who appreciates a good movie, a good westerm or both
As almost everybody knows, this is a remake of the classic original. The movie is very realistic and true to its proported time, more so than the original as much which is shown here would either not have been filmed at the time of the original or have been allowed in theatres of the time. Jeff Bridges in the title role as Cogburn (a role originally made famous by the late John Wayne) turns in a stellar performance as a broken down usually half drunk one eyed US Marshall ; and the supporting cast equally fills in their respective parts. Unfortunately less credit than is deserved is paid to the young actress who plays the main female role of Mattie Ross. Best Version of the book True Grit and well worth watching!!
I read the Book after the John Wayne version, and was really disappointed in the JW's movie. The Book is phenomenal and it was only by chance I saw Jeff Bridges version on TV ! WOW!! What a difference, the characters were true to the book, the scenes were very well presented and it brought the book to life. I really like this version.
I really like this version of True Grit. However, I still prefer the earlier John Wayne version of the film. But, I am told that this Jeff Bridges version is more authentic to the book. So I do recommend this version of True Grit to others.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

The same but different
It was not identical to the John Wayne version but followed the same story line while offering up Jeff Bridge's great talent to provide an unique film. The two films should not be compared side by side but rather stand alone as masterpieces when it comes to western movies. Both are unforgettable movies which I'll return to time and again. It's sad that very few westerns, especially quality ones, are being produced now days. this is the newer edition of true grit with jeff bridges and we really enjoyed it. normally I enjoy a movie that is a little more action packed then this but I did enjoy this movie a lot and l would watch again any timeBestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

An actual remake better than original
While the original was really good, I actually like version better. Don't get me wrong, John Wayne was awesome but he isn't as good at playing a down and out character. This is where Jeff Bridges really excels (he did play the dude after all).Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Great Remake of an original John Wayne movie....
I like this remake of the John Wayne movie "True Grit". Jeff Bridges did a superb job as Rooster Cogburn and carried it off quite well IMHO. Worth a watch if you haven't seen it.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

A True Grit re-make even better than the original!
If you liked John Wayne in "True Grit," (1969) this re-make with Jeff Bridges (2010) is even better! This Cohen Brothers version is rougher, with more graphic, honest-to-goodness violence, and the movie sets have been meticulously recreated. I'll admit I miss Wayne portraying Rooster Cogburn at the trial filmed in the original Cochise County Courthouse (Tombstone, Arizona), but that is an aside. Otherwise, Hailee Steinfeld in this re-make plays a grittier, more determined, more convincing Mattie Ross, the young woman about whom this story revolvesBestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu
