After removing the old and melted belts, replacing the pinch roller, the deck still would randomly stop playing. It would occur after pausing and resuming playback, or stopping and starting the cassette playback again. The deck would then auto-stop for some reason. My deck did have the hairline crack in the small gear and the new gear resolved my troubles. Highly recommended seller!
