The arm functions as described, the large center knob controls tension on the ball heads at each end of the arm as well as the arm joint all simultaneously. The clamp can be screwed onto the arm at one end. Independent tension control on each of the ball heads would have been nice, but I consider this articulating arm and clamp set to be a good buy for the price.
