    You'll learn how the people rebuilt their lives, or tried to.

    The book is very well written, using characters and events that really happened. The reader comes away with a clearer idea of how they lived and why they reacted the way they did, including the lives of freed slaves, and their new circumstances. Life after the war was tough in the South, and you'll learn why.

    Unintentional entanglements in war

    This is a great historical novel. I have read it more than one and gifted it as well. The historical site in the book is just past Nashville Tennessee which after you have read the book is a must visit. Seeing where the story takes place brings the book alive. Book arrived quickly in great shape.
