    Item arrived in used condition, shipping was fairly quick considering it was an import. Seller did show me pics of the condition before shipping it out. Unfortunately, the Poké Ball Plus didn't have Mew in it as mentioned in the description. I tried to return but the seller said to keep the item and gave me a full refund. I definitely recommend this seller for their outstanding customer service alone!

    Possibly the best portable recorder out there.

    After years of using & struggling to see the microscopic screen on a Zoom H4, the Tascam DR40 is a joy. The user interface is clean and intuitive. The display is easily readable. The most useful feature is the 4 track mode where it records two stereo tracks, one pair is an adjustable number of dB below the other so in case you are busy performing while recording and do not notice clipping on a loud passage, you have another track recorded at a lower level which hopefully will be clean. I recommend recording at 24 bit sample size in this mode so you do not loose any resolution (which becomes distortion) in a soft passage.

    The DR-40 is a really good product

    Lots of pro features, simple to use, very good quality hardware and recording. I would have liked to see a 3.5mm mic jack (it only has combo XLR and 1/4" connector jacks x2); also the text printed on some of the menu buttons lacks contrast because it is printed in gray ink on black plastic while other buttons are printed in white ink on black which has good contrast. The grey text is very hard to see in a dark room. But those are minor complaints. Everything else (too numerous to mention) is great. Buy it.

    recorder works fine with two phantom power XLR microphones We like to record jam sessions here.

    The TASCAM DR-40 does a fine job recording phantom-power XLR mics onto WAV 44.1 KC 16 bit files on an SD card... we use these a lot to record music jam sessions. My last DR-40 has a broken headphone jack... that's why i bought this one... I'll be more careful with it.

    Great little high performance recorder.

    It works very well, to the point of my experience. I am no recording pro, but have played around with reel to reel as well as cassette and lesser digital recorders. This is my best so far and when I figure out its other functions I will be an even happier owner. The recorder seems pretty sturdy to me, but I do not drop test such items, on purpose. I plan to digitize my other music formats and am looking forward to see what it can do. That will be my most sevier test. So far a very happy owner.

    Helping to develop future jazz musicians

    I work with a community jazz band consisting of youngsters from 10-18yrs of age. I use this unit to record our rehearsals so the students can listen to themselves objectively. It has already paid dividends in their development. The portability and quality of recordings makes this unit worth it's weight 10-fold.
