Robert DeNiro stars in his directorial debut as Lorenzo Anello, a dutiful father and blue-collar bus driver from the harsh New York City borough of the Bronx whom tries desperately to keep his son Calogero from surrendering to the temptation of organized crime. When Calogero witnesses Mafia kingpin Sonny (Chaz Palminteri) commit murder, he decides to honor the "code of the streets" and offers no information to the cops when interrogated. Consequently, a friendship is forged between Sonny and Calogero, and--against his father's wishes--the young man joins the Mafia. Calogero respects his father, though can not seem to shake his new lifestyle, but when push comes to shove it is his father who must confront the mob and save his son's life, leaving Calogero to re-examine the magnitude of his father's honest work ethics.Product Identifiers

Great movie, might not be legit
This is a great movie and should definitely be placed in the same classic gangster movie category as Goodfellas, Casino or Scarface. The disc will be immaculate and it will be sealed and shrink wrapped. However, there have only been two official printings of this movie; one was a cardboard "snap case" from the late 90s, the other is the recent Blu Ray edition. This DVD is neither which leads me to believe that this is a bootleg/counterfeit edition. The official DVD is $25+ which is an even bigger indication it is a bootleg considering the low price of this one. It still works and has great production value in the packaging, just be warned it is most likely not an official release and is a very well made (Chinese I'm guessing) bootleg. Good Family Movie
Good life lessons can be learned watching this movie. It shows the tough choices that youth have to deal with in life. Work hard, do the right thing, treat people fairly and with respect or take the road that looks a lot better and easier. This movie should be watched by both parents and teenagers. I liked it when I watched it for the first time when it came out in 1993. I liked it just as much when I bought a copy off of E-Bay a few weeks ago and watched it again. An urban classic
I was drawn to this film as a child and I never understood the meaning but now that I am an adult, I finally understand. A Bronx tale is a recollection of dramatic events told by the young man (in a voice over ) growing up in the 60s', during a time of drastic change involving crime. It touches on many issues we all witness from others or that we are involved in ourselves. It is in the eyes of this young man, where you will realize he is able to see both sides of the story and serenade you with this tale. It's worth your time to watch. great movie, lots of life lessons.

Bronx Tale

great acting
