Tiltall Tripod 4602
The Tiltall Tripod 4602 is an outstanding tripod. It is convenient to use, has two handles for adjusting the camera angles in so that the picture is level with the horizon or tilted to your desires. It is good for small digital cameras to 4 x 5 view cameras. It is stable, compact for a large tripod, and attaches firmly to the camera. It is all aluminum metal and precision made. I have used them since 1961. If you need a smaller tripod, there is the Tiltall Junior. Sturdy and Well made

Nice picece of aluminium

Great tripod! They REALLY don't make them like this anymore.
This tripod is still made, but it's been outsourced to China (naturally), and the price has gone up (naturally). I have no experience with the new ones, only to say they look similar. Caveat Emptor! The old ones, when in good condition, are a photographer's dream! It's a medium weight tripod--not portable! But it's built like a battleship, and NO plastic! Light and well-built.
This tripod is affordable, light, and best of all sturdy. It does a fantastic job holding up any of my medium format cameras, no doubt it can hold much more. Fantastic Tripod
I have been researching tripods for what seems like forever, trying to find something stable for a large format wet plate camera. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. While it's not winning any points for being light that was not my intent. I wanted something heavier and stable, and that's just what I got at a fraction of the cost of many other tripods I was reviewing. So glad I purchased it! Highly recommend for anyone that does wet plate collodion work and needs something stable for their large format camera. An American Classic
Mine is a 1970s E Leitz-built model. Some of the later ones have a built in monopod, but this one does not. The brass leg locks function perfectly smooth and solid after a little cleaning and lubrication. Solid as a rock. These legs are superior to almost anything built today. The classic tiltall head is on the other hand, a bit fiddly by today's standards. Even cleaned and lubed, there's a little too much friction in the mechanism for smooth camera movements in video. But for a stills photographer, it's still a fantastic choice. In this photo, I've added Arca-Swiss quick release functionality with an inexpensive adapter and a few arrows to remind me which way the knobs adjust.

Rock solid
What a bargain. I almost bought a new one because they are priced right. But this old American made unit is a tank. No, the leg doesn't come off to use as a tripod. But who cares?
