A good all around lens - nice for walking around and travel
It is hard to beat the quality of the Canon L series lenses - I have quite a few. But for walking around and routine travel it is hard to justify carrying the exelent EF 28-300 L. I love the 28-300 but it weighs a ton and looks like a bazooka. So for convenience with APS C cameras the EFS 18-200 is a great choice. Nice zoom range (29 - 320) equivilent, good resolution and color rendition. I have purchased two of these, one for my wife and one for my daughter. One of these we have had for several years. The Best of Compromise Lenses

Canon ES 18-200 Superzoom
Excellent walkabout lens- range is more than adequate for most situations. Not having to remount different lenses for different situations is especially useful. The lens has an excellent build quality, worthy of the Canon label. While not light, it is well-balanced. The lens lock at 18mm is a nice touch. A very fine Canon lens.
I've been a Canon user for over two decades and really like their glass quality and quality of buid. BUT! This time I tried using this very good lens on my Sony A7 ii....had to use an adaptor of course and really hoped to be able to wed the two successfully. Unfortunately it just did not work well. This is not the fault of the lens or the camera, it's just not a good idea to "blend" in all cases. I do a lot of hummingbird shooting and I need a lens that will focus RIGHT NOW. This combo did not allow that to happen. The Lens "hopped" back and forth from extreme close to moderately close every time I tried to take a shot so I had to give up on the idea and stick with Sony-to-Sony, probably for the best. I really hated to send this fine lens back...but that's the way it worked out. Frankly, if I were to decide to go back to a Canon camera, which I considered, I would have kept this lens over the one I sold, a 100-400 "L". (I am seeking to go lighter equipment-wise). My advise re. this lens, it's a top-of-the-line piece of equipment and if you can't afford an "L", or if, like me, you want to go lighter and still want top quality, this is the lens for you.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Happy With My Purchase

Good starter lens
Although this lens is not the glass that will give you upper level quality. It is a fantastic lens to keep on your camera for everyday shooting. You won't be disappointed of its overall quality and study build. And it's worth the money. If you're a newbie and just getting started, this is a great lens to learn with while getting those awesome photos you've always desired.

versatile, rugged (enought), fast

Playing Seriouslly
A perfect all purpose lens with and for a great price. For the money it gets the job done. Can go long. Can do action. Take portraits for a nonpefectionist! And a professional can get by with it. It has a wide view angle for large groups or landscape. Very functional lens. I have 2.8 lenses for work but I'm perfectly okay with this lens if I get caught off guard with it alone.
