Reviews3 Stars - Good - "...it's a tasteful affair and retains an emotional edge. Welch also added a looser, jazzier tinge to the mood, contrasting nicely with some sturdy rhythms...With its refreshing lack of calculation, this still sounds contemporary..."
I have a first generation Mystery To Me CD that sounds just awful. My guess is that the CD was copied from RIAA equalized tapes. I really like the Bob Welch and Christine McVee music. I ordered this replacement CD since it was a 1990's reissue. I assumed there might have been some remastering to open up the sonics, but no. It sounds just as dead as the original CD issue. There is no dynamics so the sound. There is no top end and the mid-range is crunched together so that there no space or sound stage between the instruments. The low end is just a blur, not distinct notes from the bass and drums. I also have a vinyl version of Mystery To Me and it is the only way to listen to this FM album.
