  • Must buy book on Gettysburg

This is fabulous book. It has excellent detail, though it is not as detailed as some books that are bigger and include only one day of the battle. It is very easy reading and so enjoyable. It is a book a civil war buff can hardly put down. IT certainly credits Gen Meade and shows some failings of Gen Lee.

  • One of the Two Best on Gettysburg

The focus of Coddington's account is on the operational acts of the commanders involved. It is a very good, comprehensive history of the military campaign. It and Guelzo's Gettysburg are the two best single-volume works on the subject, and they complement each other to some extent.
