Charming
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir has been one of my all time favorite stories. The widowed Mrs. Muir and her young daughter move into a house right on the sea where she has always wanted to live only to find out the house is already occupied by a sea captain who has been dead for many years. Their adventures begin as soon as Mrs. Muir takes occupancy and she refuses to be scared away from the home she desires. Their relationship borders on the stormy side in the beginning...but adventures they do have.

I have always loved this story of a young widow and her relationship with the salty ghost of a sea captain who haunts the cottage she rents. The chemistry between Gene Tierney as Lucy Muir, and Rex Harrison as Captain Daniel Gregg, is enchanting. I love the charming "surprise" happy ending. I would recommend this film for fans of the actors and anyone who loves a good historical "ghostly" romance.

The Ghost And Mrs. Muir
Old classic. Black and white. For those who may not be use to movies of this era can be a little slow. However, the characters are very good and especially Rex Harrison if you like his movies. It is a story of a woman widowed living with family who seeks independence on her own with her young daughter and maid. Romance in this movie is not what we know normally today see in movies and read in books like the Harlequin. It is a movie of two (2) strong minded individuals needs, desires and secrets which bonds them forever in which love never spoken, love truly evident for all of time and beyond.

Classic Forties Film
I first saw The Ghost and Mrs. Muir on TCM. The story is told with an unusual, engaging atmosphere. The performances are low key and believable. Suspend your disbelief and allow it to draw you in!

OUTSTANDING!!!
I cry in parts of the movie. SO TOUCHING TO THE HEART, I THINK IT SHOULD BE A TWO THUMBS UP MOVIE!! A OLD CLASSIC AND SO FUNNY IN PARTS OF THE MOVIE TO!!!! WORTH YOUR MOVIE TO BUY YOU SHOULD BUY AND WATCH IT FOR YOUR SELF PEOPLE. I do not want to spoil the movie for your readers. A movie you will enjoy, so get the popcorn ready and watch a movie that will keep you in your chair:)

Hollywood at it's finest.
A fun movie with a wonderful cast. Director Joseph L. Mankiewicz did an excellent job. It seems to get better as the years go by.

A great movie about comedy, love, adventure..... a trip down memory lane when movies were fun.
Set in the English village of Whitecliff, along the coast somewhere in the early 1900's...and is based on a 1945 novel written by Josephine Leslie under the pseudonym of R. A. Dick. A widow with two children and her maid buy a house haunted by an old sailor who used to live there and still does. Very entertaining, funny and a great love story. I loved the ending... a true romance and the way movies used to be....

Ghost and Mrs Muir
It is a great movie. Rex, Gene and George are entertaining but serious about the affairs of the heart. You know I must it is refreshing to watch how Mr. Harrison captures the female heart. I'm reminder about another movie with James Mason and Ava Gardner but that's for another time. The dvd is clear and the soundtrack is very good. Diana Bell June 13th, 2016

No need to go into details, as this is a universally admired title. It is not just a feel-good love story but also sober and wise.

A Classic Love Story
I love this movie. The Ghost and Mrs Muir has been a favorite of mine since I was a teenager. Grateful I was able to get it as it is hard to find it on the streaming services we have to choose from at this time.
