    perfect book for our front porch

    I have used the Birds of Michigan by Stan Tekiela and, living in the country, use it nearly everyday. I bought the Birds of California for my daughter and she loves it. It's so nice to find the bird you're looking at quickly and then find out about their habits.

    Great field guide

    Excellent photographs of California birds, male and female to show the sexual dimorphism of coloring of the species. We've used the guide to identify dozens of different birds at our backyard feeder, and several raptors while we are out hiking.

    Fun low cost hobby!

    Best California Bird Guide

    I purchased this book as a second book to keep in my car. My other copy of this book has so many post it tabs and notes I have made in it I needed a second book. This book is organized by main color of bird then by size, so its quick and easy to find the bird you are looking for.

    MOST EXCELLENT PHOTOS

    The smaller size is quite nice. There is good info and the photos of male/female and some in-flight images are extremely helpful in identification.
