Pleasant and gut wrenchig at the same time
These are just consistently good...the writing team must be stellar. They are also a refreshing nostalgic blend of pre-digital era restraint on the blood 'n gore angle, which fits with the pastoral south-England setting. Sort of a retreat into English garden-party atmosphere with mystery and the "bad side" of humanity woven in.
