Graphic exposition of a terrible time in Oklahoma.

Very Well Done
Ken Burns seems to turn anything he does a show on into gold. this one i have my own, and got this as a gift for someone who is interested in learning more about the Dust Bowl. It is so intriguing, keeps you absolutely glued to the seat to witness what folks had to deal with in this country, the hardships look unbearable and yet they found ways to survive. they really should show this in classrooms.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Dust bowl horrors

I loved this DVD it showed how it really was to go thru it.
There are interviews with people who were really in the Dust Bowl. I liked to hear their stories of how it really was. Great photos of the real dust clouds and some great videos of the dust clouds.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Lots of good photos and movie reels of the reality of the situation.
I feel that this documentary is being written in hindsight. At the time there were no real scientific studies on how the land was fragile, etc., and blaming the FARMERS is not constructive. They were doing what they do best, which was producing food. Not everyone can do that. As a farmer's daughter I understand the endeavors. Editing needed.
As usual with Ken Burns the research and details are impeccable. But with this there's too much. It could have easily been condensed into one disc. The interviews are repetitive in observation and sentiment. It dulls the impact of those terrible times.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht
