USB Video For Linux, Mac & Windows
A lot lot of USB video modules work with Windows and maybe Mac but few work well with Linux. I needed to run an external monitor on my Acer C720 that I converted to SeaBIOS with Ubuntu 18.04. The external HDMI port only worked with my TV due to an apparent driver quirk. So I bought the Star Tech USB 3.0/DVI (HDMI to DVI). After downloading a Linux driver from the StarTech website, I installed the driver as instructed by running the .sh install file. I was up and running quick and easy. My C720-3605 has a 1.7 Mghz i3 CPU. I was surprised that the video speed was good for CAD with no apparent slowdown. I doubt that it would be adequate for high level gamers but short of that, it's great. This StarTech DVI unit also comes with a DVI/VGA converter plug. So it works well to go from HDMI on your computer to either DVI or VGA. StarTech also has the best product support I've found. They actually real time text chatted with me and explained product features BEFORE I purchased. Great product
