Degree. N 0 one who has not experienced it can appreciate the friendliness of the University and the warmth of the welcome and hospitality which it ex tended to a newcomer from England. My obligations and my gratitude to former President Guy Stanton Ford, A. L. Burt, and other members of the History department can never be adequately stated, but above all is this true of my debt to my counselor and friend, Professor Ernest S.
