  • the book is different from the movie

I've seen the 1939 movie of Wuthering Heights at least 20 times, and I still need a box of tissues to get through to the end. This is my first time reading the book, and it is quite a bit different than the story I knew from the movie. Interesting, but different. It's written in the vocabulary of the day, and conversations sound a bit stilted and verbose, and sometimes I have to re-read sections to be sure I'm understanding it, but it's a compelling read. Bronte has created strong and well-defined characters to live out this tragic tale.
