At times tender, at times crude, story of THE Babe. Loosely based on the life of Babe Ruth, the GREATEST slugger.
The story was superb, the plot was on target and the acting of John Goodman outstanding. The rest of the cast played their parts believablely and, while not an Oscar winner, certainly worth the time to watch, more than once. The Babe is just a great story based on a great baseball player. The Babe
I thought The Babe was pretty good, but not great. It took artistic license with too many facts which is always a disappointment for me, because the Babes real story had plenty to write about truthfullly.. John Goodman was better than I thought as the Babe, and he acted the part pretty good. He looked somewhat like the Babe, but not enough for me to be convincing. His legs were much bigger than the Babes. It had some bad parts, but also had good parts, like when visits the sick kid, Facts were wrong again, but it was a moving scene. Very good history drama.
