Worth all the hype
The Engineer SS-02 is worth all the hype. There hasn't been any "innovation" in solder suckers for decades, they're all pretty much the same. The SS-02 is the only that's different. It's much shorter than your average solder sucker, which makes one-hand operation much easier. Still, the smaller size doesn't affect suction power at all, it seems better than your average solder sucker. The silicone nozzle (the main selling point) works just as advertised, it makes a better "seal" around the solder. My default soldering iron temperature is 350 degrees Celsius (lead-free solder), and the silicone nozzle works fine even at such a high temperature. The nozzle itself is metal, not plastic/teflon like most solder suckers, so it will never wear. The only thing that needs replacing is the silicone nozzle, and a ~5 cm piece is included, which will last for a while. The one downside of the Engineer SS-02 is that when clearing the solder (depressing the plunger after sucking), the solidified solder sometimes gets stuck on the silicone nozzle. So, you might want to keep some sharp tweezers at hand, so you can clear the nozzle. Despite this minor negative, the SS-02 is by far the best solder sucker I've ever used. Very good for small amounts of solder
I use this solder pump for working on guitar amplifiers and it works excellently most of the time. The only issue I’ve had is the tip will fill with solder and get stuck if you try and draw in a pool of solder from the back of a potentiometer or chassis ground. It’s kind of a pain but I’ve quickly learned the amount it can handle. It is extremely well made and the silicone tip is a game changer as well. Super duper” sucker”
This item really works quite well. I am really impressed by the power this little sucker has. Very handsomely crafted out of aluminum and anodized for a tough coat. Self ejection of the waste solder so that the suction chamber stays clean. I would highly recomend this pump to anyone who does repair of electronics circuit boards.It is very light and very compact.

why didn't this get invented 10 years ago?

Engineer Best Solder Sucker Tool
I've used several different Soldering suckers since the early 90's that were just basically gimmicks. The SS02 actually works and it is very well made. IF you use it and clean it per the instructions it is a wonderful tool. I've read some folks have issues with the cleaning pin breaking but from what I have seen that is due to not being cleaned prior to use.. Read the instructions! Clean it after use and make sure you clean it before you use it. It also requires some grease per the instructions which helps create suction. It's a great tool and it is Well Made and if you take care of it will last you for years. This is like my 2nd one in like 20 years so maybe a little expensive but you get a GOOD TOOL for the money and if used with proper maintenance will last you for years..Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Might last a while.
Removing solder from the tip can be inconvenient, but it feels as though it might hold up for at least a year. Coming from the cheap blue solder-suckers, this is a big step up. Silicone tip seals the deal
This solder sucker works excellent. The silicone tip is what makes all the difference. Perfectly desoldered joints with less heat. The aluminum construction is very nice. I included a picture of the quality of the work it does.

Excellent quality
Excellent quality, and a very powerful suction. The flexible tip helps seal against surfaces at awkward angles. One complaint. Its small size and power, make it harder to hang onto during operation.
