Be prepared to be scared when you watch 'The Haunting.' Liam Neeson stars as Dr. David Marrow, who invites a group of people who suffer from insomnia to Hill House, an out of the way mansion. They are to take part in what they think is an insomnia study, but things do not go quite as they had expected . The doctor is not interested in studying insomnia patients, instead he is really doing a study on fear and is planning to scare the group in various ways. The guests, as well as the doctor, end up terrified when they learn that the mansion is actually haunted by an evil spirit.

    An Extension Of Shirley Jackson's " That Haunting Of Hill House".

    I truly enjoyed the movie, and probably would like the book even more. What I loved is that this re make told us additional information that we didn't get in the first movie. It enlightened the viewer. If you are a fan of the Haunting Of Hill House, then you MUST see this movie. You are sure to have an Ah Ha! moment. Having said that, there is some negatives. The set was astounding. Hill house is super spooky but there are too many styles of architecture on the interior sets. Huge Stone Birds and Sheep in the main hall and stairway? It would have better to have done it all in Victorian style of Goth. Over all a big A+

    Not the Book, by any means.

    The DVD is of good quality so no complaints there. The actors are good, and the production values very very high. The major thing lacking in this movie is good writing. The whole direction of the movie is called character driven. it is not. It's driven more by the special effects and the over the top attention to the props. One wishes to have been given more of a tour of the house and it's decor. Sadly we are left with dead dialogue an a moribund screen play.

    The Haunting

    Great movie. All star cast, the castle was beautiful yet erie at the same time. Effects were great, story line was easy to follow. We love horror movies and this is a really good addition.

    Get the popcorn for this one!!

    Love the House! effects are amazing, story is a tad different frm the original 1959 movie.

    Overall Great!

    Great computer generated images for the 90's, A list actors, good storyline (based on the novel and 1960s movie), overall good PG 13 spooky fun and mystery, almost entirely gore free, Lili Taylor delivers her usual excellent performance, good supporting cast, memorable, worth the buy and would watch again. =-)
