Duke it out in some of your favorite spots, including Smashville, Yoshi's Island, and the Bridge of Eldin when you play Nintendo's Super Smash Bros Brawl for Wii. Released in 2008, this the third installment of the highly successful Super Smash Bros franchise. It is the first of the series to become available to play on the Nintendo Wii console. Gamers can choose to play as their favorite Nintendo characters, including Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Mega Man, Zelda, Mario, and 30 other classic characters. This game, which is mainly comprised of two-dimensional fighting action, allows you to play with up to three other players or go on a solo adventure. This makes it great for both group- and single-play entertainment. Super Smash Bros is most famous for its classic fighting mode that allows up to four characters to battle each other. The goal in fighting mode is to knock opponents off of the screen. Each character has four unique moves that they can use to defeat the others. All characters can also use projectiles and melee weapons. When game milestones are hit, players can summon assist trophies and poke balls to help them. Players can also practice their moves against the computer to build skill they can then use to defeat other players and characters. Super Smash Bros Brawl contains a unique solo story mode called the Subspace Emissary. The side-scrolling gameplay in this mode is similar to that of the Mario Bros games for the original Nintendo. Cut-scenes are interspersed between levels to explain the plot. In Brawl, the objective is to battle the Ancient Minister and his evil minions, the Primid, to prevent the bad guys from invading Subspace. The game features different storylines that vary depending on the character you play. This Nintendo video game also has a stadium mode that offers mini games that include Home Run Contest and Boss Battles. This Wii game includes a diverse cast of 35 playable characters, many of whom will be instantly familiar to Nintendo fans. Some of the characters from the Mario franchise are featured in this game, including Luigi, Princess Peach, and Yoshi. New characters for this Nintendo installment include Diddy Kong, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid. The fights take place on 41 different stages, 10 of which were featured in Super Smash Bros Melee. Stages include the Mushroomy Kingdom, Sky world, Yoshi's Island, Rumble Falls, and more. Players can also create their own customized stages. This exciting, interactive Nintendo game features intuitive controls that make it even easier to brawl your way to the top. It is compatible with four different types of Wii controllers: Wii Remote, Wii Remote with Nunchuks, the GameCube controller, and the Classic Controller. It also allows gamers to connect with other Smash Bros Fans over the Wii's Wi-Fi connection in order to battle. Upon its release, Super Smash Bros Brawl for the Wii quickly became a hit. Brawl has garnered many fans who love its intense gameplay and fun story. It has an ESRB rating of T for Teen.

    My 9 year old boys really enjoy it

    They have been using it for a few weeks and they say it's exciting, entertaining and fun. It's easy to use once you get the hang of it. There are instructions in the booklet. You can do practice battles, as many as you need, without time limits and without your enemies trying to knock you off the stage. There's one thing they don't like: in the story mode you can't choose your character. Also, the graphics are "medium", not great. Overall, they are really pleased and recommend this this game.

    Good price, great game, old favorite. Glad to find!

    It works, was a good price, and we were glad to find another one. We had this when we were younger, it broke, and we had hoped to acquire a new one to play with younger siblings. The game is fun, and we enjoy spending some of our free time with an old favorite!

    So Awesome!!

    The game is fun and competitive with a large variety of characters to choose from, including fan-favorites such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Pikachu, Link, Kirby and Mario. Each character has different attacks, and it's interesting to see how each will respond to a Smash Ball, which basically turns you into a Super Saiyan. Sometimes after a brawl you will fight the CPU playing another unlockable Nintendo character, and once you beat them, you win the character to brawl with. I would absolutely recommend playing with another person, but if that's not doable at the time, you can play against a CPU of your choice and strength. There are many different maps from different games such as Star Fox, Metal Gear Solid, Metroid, Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, Pikmin, etc. The graphics are beautiful and the ...

    One of the all time greats

    This game represents the confluence of a great series (Smash Bros) and a great console (the Wii). The result is an excellent game for (most of) the whole family. The Smash Bros series is known for giving us combat and entertainment with many of Nintendo's favorite characters, but without the blood and gore. If you don't want your child to play Mortal Kombat due to the amount of brutal kills, you might consider Smash Bros as a cleaner alternative. While there is certainly violence, with hammers, laser guns, swords, and fireballs all used as weapons, it's all very cartoonish and there are no brutal "kill shots" and no gore. It's a very PG way to smash your opponent's skull. Of course NES favorites like Mario, Pikachu, Link, Samus, and Kirby are ready to battle, but many more (37 total) are ...

    Great game, great value

    This is one of my kids' favorite games. The graphics and game play are spectacular, and the number of characters and boards is impressive. Its the kind of game that takes a long time to play and doesn't really get old. This particular disc arrived in great shape and has had no problems at all in game play, unlike several previous attempts with used discs. Fast shipping plus an almost new disc (in appearance) equals a happy dad :)
