Relive the events of one of the most popular movie sequels of all-time in "Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back." Released in 1993 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the video game was ahead of its time back in the day, pushing the control and graphic capabilities of the SNES console.Gameplay in "Super Star Wars" is largely based on the scenes and moments seen in "The Empire Strikes Back" movie. There are three playable characters from which to choose. This includes Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca. Each hero has his own abilities that can help defeat enemies and allow you to easily get through levels. Luke Skywalker can use a blaster gun or a lightsaber. Han Solo has a gun and the ability to throw grenades. Chewbacca can shoot his crossbow or perform a huge spinning attack on enemies who are close by. Extra attack options can also be unlocked as players progress through levels. For example, as a Jedi, Luke has the ability to earn Force Powers that permit him to defeat enemies much easier.Levels are set up based on side-scrolling platform action. The backgrounds and designs are taken directly from "The Empire Strikes Back" movie. This includes snowy planets, the construction of the new Death Star, and travels through desert planets. Songs from the film series are fully mixed into the "Super Star Wars" levels to give you the best SNES gaming experience. Extra levels in the game feature a variety of flying missions. Also known as "Mode 7," the graphics simulate 3D effects and put you in the perspective of flying and controlling a Star Wars ship. The ship can shoot down other ships, travel across obstacles, and make its way to specific parts of the level as you play. Flying missions match up with the same types of scenes featured in the movie."Super Star Wars" is known to be one of the more challenging franchises on the SNES console. To help players get through levels and start off, there is a level code feature. At the end of each level, a code is generated that can be entered on the main title screen of the game. There are also numerous cheat codes embedded in the game to help players. Codes can assist players in earning both extra lives and continues so they do not get a game over status. Force Powers can be unlocked right away so that Luke can easily get through enemies and obstacles. Han can also have access to an infinite number of bombs. Additional cheat codes allow players to instantly go to the final battle against Darth Vader. This is the biggest and most challenging boss battle in the game."Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" is a great collector's item for franchise fans. You can purchase just the cartridge or a whole set with the case and manual. The artwork on the case features the three playable characters along with Yoda, Boba Fett, and Darth Vader. The cartridge works in any version of the Super Nintendo system.

    Nostalgia trip in a galaxy far, far away!

    Love playing this game! Even though I don't typically make it very far, the general experience of playing as a 32-bit Luke Skywalker in one of LucasArt's more compelling titles has definitely taken a front seat in retro gaming for me.
