Small village drama in the early days and onwards of World War 2.
World War 2 drama comes to a small English Village as the war begins and the younger population joins up. Some good characters here you can love or hate as both types are developed here. I wish they would continue the series past these first two, but the show is still very worthwhile entertainment.

Best series
Home Fires is one of the best shows I have ever seen. I don't understand why the series didn't continue when it was so popular. You really get to know the people so we. It just left you hanging wanting to know what else happened in their lives, especially Pat. Loved the book too.

A great show that deserved a 3rd season
I loved this show when it was on ABC TV here in Australia. Was thrilled to be able to sit down and watch both season right through. Just really upset they never went ahead with the planned 3rd season.

A great example of English Acting
I had seen this series when it was first presented. Very interested in how people coped with WWII in England versus Australia. Extremely well acted and filmed.

As a WW2 series it's entertaining but not as entertaining as Foyle's War or The Bletchley Girls.
A good series that gives an insight to WW2 on the home front but mainly from the point of view of the wives and families. Akin to The Bletchley Girls and Foyle's War in that it's a good production with a look and feel of the time period but without the spies and villains.
