After hosting a highly successful special on NBC in 1977, Richard Pryor was offered a ten-week contract by the network to present his own show. However, bizarre scheduling problems and Pryor's paranoia concerning his abilities meant that it only ran to four shows. Although the ratings didn't manage to live up to expectations, the shows have subsequently undergone something of a critical rehabilitation, and are now regarded to be amongst Pryor's best work. Combining a mixture of political satire and his inimitable rapier wit, Pryor worked with a variety of special guests on the shows to produce some classic comedic subject matter which still resonates to this day. Guests include John Belushi, Maya Angelou, Robin Williams, Sandra Bernhard, and many others.

Used Richard Pryor Show DVD Review
The outside of the DVD Packaging looks almost brand new but unfortunately a lot of the DVD was scratching upon playing it. Was frustrated and tried it in two different DVD players but did not work. It would play for about 15 minutes and then it would freeze in the middle of the DVD. I've thought about getting another one online but haven't took the time to do so.

Beautiful Baby!!
I love the Richard Pryor show he told a lot of truth in his skits about what goes on in hollywerid but the producers finally shut him down. Richard Pryor did not what to be controlled and there for the show was canceled.

So glad to own this long-censored show
The Richard Pryor show was axed from TV for being "too controversial" - I know because I was a fan watching it at the time. It is its own category, and it is difficult to find. Delighted to own a copy.
