VERY GOOD VALUE FOR THE PRICE!!!
If you understand the world today and how everyone wants to control everyone else this book is gold. It gets valuable information you can use off the net and into hard copy format. Because with all information on the net who controls the net controls the information. The quality of the book appears to be very good and I have written, designed and self published two books myself that are selling well. Yes I would have liked a larger format maybe but still. I was under the impression that the pictures were all going to be black and white.... not so!!! Lots of great color shots. Pretending that the net is going to always be there for information is a fools move. Considering most people these days could not even light a camp fire this book could be a godsend. A view into my Great Grandmother's lifetime
The items in this book comprise how people survived before modern conveniences and store bought food, clothes and laundry. Like preserving meat with lard. Doing laundry without a machine. Kitchens and homes before electricity and refrigeration and running hot or cold water or flush toilets. My great grandmother lived to 102 from 1855 to 1957. She could tell you about Abraham Lincoln as President. I was 7 when she passed. One of my mom's chores every day was filling the kerosene lamps for light at night. I now collect such lamps. And bringing buckets of water into the house. Or going to the beach to collect dinner, clams, oysters, fish, crab, lobster and more. This book will tell you how to do all these things and. Wash clothes on the rocks in the stream. Wow. Engaging. Let's hope we won't have to work this hard. All good to know. Great book. Extensive. Detailed. Worth it's weight in gold if we get stuck off grid or choose it as a lifestyle. Lots of recipes. Beautifully hard bound. You could say we love it
I bought this for my boyfriend, who happened to be a boy scout in his younger years. Since I bought it, he can't stop ranting and raving over it. captures the eye of people looking to the simpler way of self reliance
From the title and design of the hard cover to the pages that look like they are out of the 1800's this book draws in the reader. Page after page you are reminded of a time long gone with a glimpse into the self sustaining life of the pioneers. And when you're finished with deer hunting basics don't worry. Turn the page and learn how to make charcoal so you can grill your catch. Every chapter teaches you something you never thought you needed to know. Great job. A great resource for teaching my grandson lessons that he can take with him when he is older.
The Lost Ways found an instant place on my bookshelf, the hard part was trying to decide where on the bookshelf to put it, cooking, building, camping, prepping, so many options. Being raised in Amish country in north-central Ohio I recognized many of the things in this book, and I'm using it to teach my grandson its many lessons. The title is appropriate with an old world cover. A magnificently presented Hard Covered Book.
One of the main reasons I ordered the book was for making Pemmican. It was an expensive book, and even more so for me as the postage was high from US to Australia, but I am thrilled with the content. It’s written in simple form, with extremely good steps and illustrations.
