Good heavy duty cooking ware...
At first I was concerned about the weight of the cast iron and how fast it would heat up. Since I have used it, and am now cooking a hearty soup in it, I have nothing but good to say about it. No, I have not done any "oven" cooking with it. At five quarts, I find the size adequate to cook a roast, or produce enough soup for a week. I like the way the roof is rounded upwards. Yes, it does still steam, since it's not a pressure cooker. I am quickly becoming accustomed to the weight and does have two handles for the lid, and two for the pot. Nothing to complain about at this point. I knew nothing about Dutch ovens and cast iron cookery, and this comes "pre-seasoned", so that particular concern is taken care of...

Nice brand new cast iron dutch oven!
The Lodge 5qt Cast Iron Dutch Ovens I ordered were brand new without blemishes and packed in the factory box.

Fantastic cast iron skillet
Fantastic cast iron skillet that I purchased. I haven't used it yet but it is beautiful & is very nice kitchen appliance that I purchased. I can't wait till it gets a little bit cooler then I can use it to make different things that I haven't been able to on top of the stove. It is very pretty also

Good old cast iron.
We use this item as a burn pot in a waste oil furnace. The first one lasted 4 - 5 years at normal operating temperatures of 350 - 400 degrees 8 hours a day, 5 days a week before the bottom finally cracked. This item should last more than a lifetime under normal use. Great quality product!

lodge dutch oven
like my Lodge ironware. and like all of it, its a little rough in the casting. but a hour after opening the box, i had sanded and re-seasoned to inside. no big deal, i knew i would have to. no a swipe at Lodge, just what i do, can't afford the $150 plus stuff out there, and once "touched up" little, its as good .

Better than expected
Item came in near perfect condition. I had to look for the "marks" that make it an open item. It's cast iron who could possibly care? So I ordered. Perfect packing, item and arrived before expected.

Best value, best quality in an American product line.
Made in the Southeastern USA by a company that's been around since the 1890's!! Not many can say that anymore. Made from recycled iron/steel, solid, sturdy construction, great value, looks and cooks amazing! Need I say more????!!!! Okay.......everything tastes better cooked in this thing!!! :-)

Great for cooking but takes time and effort to take care of it.
The Lodge Cast Iron Dutch Oven is great for cooking. The only issue I have is that does take more time and effort to season the pot after every use.
