Originally aired from the BBC on June 16, 1963, this British TV miniseries adaptation of R.D. BlackmoreÆs novel LORNA DOONE is regarded by many observers as the best-ever dramatisation of that particular literary classic. Set in 17th century Exmoor, the story was motivated by the romance between LORNA DOONE and John Ridd, respectively the daughter and son of two long-feuding Scottish families. The many plot complications included a band of gypsies, an ancient curse or two, and lots of swashbuckling. Filmed on location in Bristol, this version of LORNA DOONE ran for 11 half-hour episodes.

Not as good ar the origional but amusing to watch
This was funny to me John Drill the actor who played Chancer looked strange in the costume but all in all it was entertaining and amusing even though his father got killed by the Doones and then appeared later on in a bunch of men ready to fight like we would not notice.

An average movie version of a classic novel
Not my favourite movie version of this classic novel. Whereas I will gladly rewatch other versions, this will be the only time I watch this version
