Perfect classic album from a master in rock n roll story telling
The quality of the classic album by John Melloncamp - American Fool perfect
It plays perfectly and did not have one surface feature on the disc to suggest it had been a used disc
The paper notes are good
The cd jewel case needed replacement but no surprise here as used music CD’s jewel cases often need replacement
The album is a bargain as it completes a much loved master of rock n roll story telling
I am huge Mellencamp fan but I try to be fair when I review something. American Fool was a big selling album for Mellencamp and there is no question "Jack and Diane" is his biggest song ever. It's just a great song and the entire first half of American Fool is a masterpiece. The first four songs are incredible.
But here is where I think you have to be careful. This is a VERY GOOD album but I don't think it quite hits the mark like Scarecrow, Lonesome Jubilee, and Uh-Huh do. Those three albums are perfection. This one is 50-50 or maybe 60-40 perfection. The first four tracks on the album definitely are as good as anything Mellencamp as ever done but the second half of the album is more inconsistent. I love the title track ending the album but otherwise the last four songs on the album are lacking.
Still I would highly recommend this album.
