Smaller than expected
I was surprised at how small this speaker is. For the original $500 price point I was expecting something bigger. That said, the sound reproduction quality is outstanding. This may be the best digital sound reproduction I have heard in a home system. The sound is very true to the source and has great separation so that the sounds can be heard individually and do not get mashed together. For certain vocals, it sounds like the vocalist is singing right into the speaker, like the speaker is connected to the mic. The only things that the speaker cannot do are realted to its size. It is high DB but I do not think it sounds good at high volume. It sounds noisy to me because there is not enough displacement. Because it is small, the sound stage is narrow. I use it in a small room to listen ... I was surprised at how small this speaker is. For the original $500 price point I was expecting something bigger. Hefty, High-Resolution Network Speaker
I own the entire series and these Sony speakers are great. My favorite is this one, the SRS-X88. Excellent sound, nice bass, rich mids & very clear highs. This is a high-end speaker that used to retail for $400, and I can see why. This speaker is something that you buy for the long-term and it will serve you well. It's not meant to to pushed at maximum volume, and it works excellently as part of a multi-room wireless setup. Nice sounding speaker.
Good fidelity and volume in a nice bedside or shelf speakers. Powerful enough to generate deep tones and good base. Connects easily to my smartphone. The Sony app is good, but not great, but that seems to be par for the course. Recommended.
