Another great series when they used to know how to make shows.
This is still very watchable today, it is however not the complete series, only contains origianl series and non of the later ones, nor the ones when the show was sold to ABC who killed it. It is however a great value and contains the main epsiodes, hightly reccomend especiall at this price. It runs an average of $40.00 in my area so a great deal. This is the Battlestar I grew up with! Complete with talking Cylons! I haven’t been much of a fan of the “reimagined” series of 2004, because there’s nothing like the synthesizer voices of the original Cylons! “By your command.” Many of the episodes are two-parters because the original series was actually planned to be made-for-TV-movies. That gives the story more time to develop, and it usually makes the second part more compelling. Now before you start talking about the cheesy special effects, it’s important to know that many of the SFX guys who worked on BSG had just recently completed an independent film called “Star Wars”. Maybe you’ve heard of it? So for 1978, these effects were cutting edge. So much so, the Lucas sued them! Outstanding TV Series, poor recording.
This is one of my favorite TV shows. Being someone who loves Star Wars and Star Trek, both movies and TV shows, that should mean a lot considering they have set some of the standards. However, this specific set of DVDs looks as though somebody recorded it on a VHS tape while it originally aired, then digitized the series from the VHS tapes. I've digitized all of my 8mm video tapes and they came out pretty clean without all the graininess that these DVDs have. I still have VHS tapes and a player, and my old tapes look better than these DVDs. Menu screens are supposed to be like an arcade video game's "attract mode" where it entices you. But the menu screen on this set has jittery music when it loops instead of transitioning smoothly. There is no feedback on toggling the commentary, and I couldn't toggle back so I have to reset the player's power each time I want to turn it off. I gave it a 3 instead of 2 or 1 because I don't see any competition. So, if you want the 1st and only 1978 Battlestar Galactica season, and you want it now, this is it. This set of DVDs will give you the original episodes as far as content is concerned, and I appreciate that. "It's like saying hello to an old freind"
I grew up watching this show in the late 70's stuck with me for years and way ahead of it's time, the story and themes were classic and heroes were heroes and villains were villains unlike the Ron Moore versions of 2003-04 where the characters had flaws and had no morals, Universal should make a "Special Edition" in the memory of the late and great Richard Hatch whom passed away this year since he was the one who was the champion of the revival efforts to bring this classic back..., a fitting tribute to the man who made his character [Captain Apollo] believable if Universal is reading this PLEASE DO A SPECIAL EDITION hire some digital experts to update footages, ad special effects when needed the whole nine yards and an extra added bonus include Mr. Hatch's BSG trailer on one of the Dvds as stated above should serve as a tribute...., all in all I enjoyed the Dvds.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Excellent Series , better the the Alphabet TV Channels programming.
Unlike the garbage on the Alphabet TV Channels nowadays this is an excellent series without the trash on TV today. What a welcome to have it on disc!
For 1978 this was about as good as it could get. Yes, the flaws of the show are apparent and everyone knows about them- but amazingly it really doesn't look dated and it STILL is a joy to watch! One of the greatest of the early Sci-fi series
As a kid, I really loved Battlestar Galactica, both the movie and the TV series. The complete TV series also includes the original movie as the first episode of the series.
