El atlas consta de más de 141 microfotografías en color, la mayoría de las cuales a 600 ppp y obtenidas con un microscopio digital Olympus del Departamento de Biología Animal (antes llamado Citología e Histología) de la Facultad de Biología de la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. Se incluyen microfotografías desde las cianobacterias hasta las plantas superiores, pasando por hongos, musgos, hepáticas y helechos. En las plantas se tratan todos los tipos de tejidos y secciones de las distintas partes como raíz, tallo, hoja y partes masculina y femenina de la flor.
