Synopsis
The Well-Spoken Thesaurus is designed to help you improve your communication skills by expanding your vocabulary. The book includes over 200 words, arranged in easy-to-use categories, such as "positive emotions," "negative emotions," "intellectual terms," and "descriptive terms." Each entry includes a definition, synonyms, antonyms, and usage examples. The Well-Spoken Thesaurus is particularly useful for writers who want to improve the precision and impact of their language. By providing a range of synonyms for common words and phrases, the book helps writers avoid repetition and clichés, while also encouraging them to use language that is more vivid, specific, and memorable. Some of the benefits of using The Well-Spoken Thesaurus include: Making a stronger impression: By choosing words that are more precise and impactful, you can help your writing stand out from the crowd and make a stronger impression. Demonstrating your communication skills: Using a wide range of vocabulary can demonstrate that you are articulate, sophisticated, and able to communicate effectively. Conveying your personality: Includes a range of descriptive terms that can help you convey your personality and character traits in your writing Overall, The Well-Spoken Thesaurus can be a valuable resource for anyone who wants to improve their writing and communication skills., The Ultimate Guide to Powerful Language If you've ever fumbled while trying to use a big word* to impress a crowd, you know what it's like to* be poorly spoken. The fear of mispronouncing or misusing complex words is real and leaves many of us consigned to the lower levels* of the English Language. The secret to eloquence, however, lies in simplicity-the ability to use ordinary words in extraordinary ways. The Well-Spoken Thesaurus is your guide to eloquence, replacing the ordinary with the extraordinary. While a common thesaurus provides only synonyms as mere word-for-word equivalents, The Well-Spoken Thesaurus is filled with* dynamic reinventions of standard words and phrases. *lofty word, pretentious word *know what it is to *lower reaches, lower echelons *awash in, instilled with, dense with, rich in, Such is the philosophy of linguist Tom Heehler, a man who knows that when it comes to vocabulary, bigger isn't always better. A most uncommon reference, The Well-Spoken Thesaurus is your guide to eloquence, replacing ordinary words with extraordinary ones., For example, as replacements for absolutely,A" Roget's thesaurus lists several adverbs--A"extremely,A" exactly,A" perfectlyA"; The Well-Spoken Thesaurus provides both words and phrases--A"categorically,A" without question,A" by any measureA"--that offer greater flexibility in shaping a potent, poetic sentence.

    • Not A Compete Thesaurus

This thesaurus is pretentious and it is not what I expected. For fiction writers or those who really want to rearrange the way they automatically think, write, talk, perhaps they'd like it as an impressive way to rearrange words etc. But the few times I reached to find a synonym the word I had in mind wasn’t listed at all. So it is an incomplete thesaurus that is more focused on making an impression than not. The idea when I bought this book was convenience, having a thesaurus on hand for a quickly found substitute word, a synonym to add variety in a paragraph when I’m writing away from the computer. Also, his examples of famous writers, speakers overly praised Obama, and frankly it never occurred to my observation that was one of his outstanding assets. It seemed there may have ...
