The JGS524 model comes from the NetGear ProSafe product series of gigabit Ethernet unmanaged switches. This high-density device includes 24 ports to give you plenty of connectivity options. Link up to 24 devices to your LAN, including desktop computers, printers, gaming consoles, servers, and storage, with each port capable of delivering data at 10 times the speed of fast Ethernet or up to 1,000 megabits per second (Mbps). At full-duplex mode, this unit is even faster, with connection speeds at up to 2,000 Mbps. Integrated with auto-switching and auto-sensing mechanisms, each port automatically detects the appropriate setting for an attached device to provide maximum performance. Coupled with the auto uplink technology, this gigabit switch instantly adjusts the type of Ethernet cable to use for the connected device, whether straight through or crossover. Compliant with several standards defined by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), this 24-port NetGear device is 802.3x-compliant, which provides support for automatic flow control to manage network traffic. Additionally, this gigabit unit has built-in quality of service, which facilitates voice and video prioritization to ensure bandwidth-intensive applications get higher priority than low-bandwidth tasks.
