Wow the best 2230 drive with 1TB storage !
The SN530 1TB is a PCIe Gen3 x4 interface and works well on the Surface Pro X as an upgrade in size replacement. Yes you loose a little speed compared to the Gen 4 that comes stock but saves you hundreds of dollars for the storage. Worked right out of the gate, all drivers function as it should and out of the 1TB I have 983GB something for formatting and with 866 GB of usable space, this isn't awful but is disappointing for a 1TB drive. But this is the same as the new Xbox Series X so it could be worse. This is still a lot of space for a machine that started life with a 128GB drive and 100GB of usable space. So I am very happy with it. Note the speed are on Win 11 beta/dev OS so they are a bit lower than optimized Win 10 usage. But I am very happy with the purchase and would buy this ... Wester Digital seems to be on to something with this small drive, note though heat sink and other features are missing from this drive due to space but it's NOT a deal breaker for us who need space to features. My average Speeds on the Surface Pro X SQ1 w/8GB Ram. Write speed: 931.39 MB/s Copy speed: 533.5 MB/s Read speed: 686.49 MB/s

Worked for me on my Surface Pro 8!
The item is as described, and worked perfectly for me as a storage upgrade for my Surface Pro 8. As the other reviews have said, the capacity is over 800GB but nowhere near 1TB, but considering that I was upgrading from a 256GB ssd, this drive is a huge leap in storage!

Great little SSD for Surface Laptop 3 and its likes.
Seems to work great, no problem installing or using it reallly. Bit of a shame with the "actual" capacity only being 870gb or something like that. But that was known to me beforehand so no complaint just clarifying for future buyers.

Slightly Less than 1 TB in Practice, But a Great SSD for Devices (SD) That Want to Use Less Power and Generate Less Heat
When I first saw reviews for this particular SSD, I saw it grouped up with WD SN530 2230 drives, which is wrong. This is specifically for the Lite-On SSSTC XA1-311024 2230 drive. This is a drive taken from or meant for an Xbox Series X console. It's got Not the seller's fault, but this "1TB" is not the size you'd think where you convert from 1000GB to 930GB. Instead, it starts at 930GB and scales down from there based on the MB conversion, so about 850GB or so once inside a Steam Deck. Worth noting. The price was great for mine, so I don't really care about that extra 80-ish GB, which amounts to one extra game install. And I do believe the drive does physically have the 1TB it's supposed to have. I suspect it's been overprovisioned because it was originally intended for an Xbox Series X ... I suspect it's been overprovisioned because it was originally intended for an Xbox Series X and I think Microsoft had the drive provisioned this way to try and keep the drive from failing from overuse for the lifetime of the warranty. A larger overprovisioning means less usable space, but also more room for the drive to swap out capacity before the drive can no longer do writes. As a drive, this is ideal for the Steam Deck or other similar use cases. The label says it has a very low wattage and in my experience the drive is very fast and the Steam Deck with it does not suffer from the same start-stop stutter of the fan on the Steam Deck that the WD SN850 has. Google it and you'll see people talking about how the fan speed will kick up to full blast once the internal SSD hits 70 degrees. This Lite-On does not seem to do that unless you're installing a bunch of games. The WD seems to do it, based on a much higher amperage, all the time. I feel this drive is highly recommended, but realize you'll have 850GB usable once the SD's OS is installed.
