    Harryhausen at his Best!

    I am a big fan of Ray Harryhausen, and would still rather watch one of his films than most of the fantasy films out now. There is something magical in knowing that one man, using stop-motion models and primitive optical magic, was able to breath life into his many incredible fantasy creatures and take us to other worlds. The moment when Talos turns his head as he comes alive is still one of the most powerful and surprising moments from my film memories, and the fighting skeleton sequence, with the incredible Bernard Herrmann music, is a wonder to experience. Jason is simply one of the great adventure fantasy films of all time, and paved the way for everything that has followed.

    Ancient Saga with Modern Special Effects

    This grand old Ray Harryhausen treatment of the ancient saga "Jason and the Argonauts" has aged well. The pre-CGI special effects have held up well, and the casting of the roles -- from Jason & Medea to Zeus and Hera -- is spot-on! Pop some Orville Redenbacher's sit back, and enjoy Jason and his crew's battles with the harpies, Talos, and the Hydra!

    Still an all time favorite.

    These are the movies that they don't make anymore. Mythological adventures with lots of action. The master of stop action effects presents a movie with everything you want. Clapping rocks, statues come to life and how can you not be amazed by the 'children of the hydras teeth". Loved this movie as a kid and enjoyed it just as much 50 years later.

    A Stop-Motion Masterpiece

    This is state-of-the-art special effects for the time period. Although the DVD was produced in 1998, the film was released in the early 1960's. Ray Haryhousen is a master of stop-motion animation and he gets pretty close to realism. It's a fun movie especially if you're a fan of Greek mythology. I was a little girl when i first saw it and it was awesome to see the stories I loved brought to life. This adaptation of the myth comes very close to the ancient story.

    The best of Ray Harryhausen..

    This has to be the best Ray Harryhausen special effects movie during this era. The screenplay is also excellent. I enjoyed it many, many years ago and still enjoy it today.
