      DAVIS WHALE TAIL XL

      Bought it to put on my 40hp Mercury Marine 2 stroke made in the year 2000, motor is on my basstracker pro 175, could not mount on bottom of the cavitation plate as advertized because the whaletail did not have a proper cutout for the TrimTab Anode. There was no info when i bought it stating I would have to remove the anode or I wouldn't have bought it. I mounted whaletail ontop of cavitaion plate, but I think it sticks out 4 inches more then it was designed too. It does get the boat on plane faster and once there Iam able to back off the throttle a "little" and stays on plane. If I could go back in time I would buy one from a different maker, I was counting on this to mount to the underside of the cavitaion plate but didn't work out that way. Just does not look good ontop,, but it does ...

      Whale tail does what it's supposed to do

      I purchased this whale tail stabilizer for a 16' Boston Whaler SL16 with a 90 hp V4. The boat would nose straight up on take off and didn't come up on plane until a pretty good speed was reached. Added this Whale Tail and wow, totally different boat. Goes right up on plane and stays there, even at reduced cruising speed. Great product for the money.

      Whale tail

      high quality product, easy to install, unfortuatly didn't solve my cavitation problem, will try a different prop.

      Whale Tail is a great value

      I have an old 16' Sylvan Backtroller. I upgraded the motor to a four-stroke 60hp Mercury. I have three batteries and the gas tank and, of course, me, all in the stern, When I would gun the motor to get on plane, the bow would rise so far I could not see anything in front of me. Dangerous when around other boats. Plus, when the bow goes up, the stern goes down, increasing the chance of hitting bottom and wrecking the prop. With the Whale Tail easily installed the boat gets on plane without any drama at all. I get on plane and save fuel too since I don't have to grev the engine. Highly recommended addition for anyone with this problem and I am sure it would help getting skiers out of the water quicker.

      Good Lookig Product

      Good looking product but is unfortunately a paperweight for me. It does not fit the Cobra SX drive on my boat. Longer bolts and some bending would be required.
