A little disappointing
The original Planet earth series was excellent. Planet Earth II follows the same concept with excellent cinematography and narration. What I don't like is the music. The music makes the scenes tense & suspenseful and not relaxing and interesting as if I were watching a fast action, thrill seeking movie. My young children were bothered by this series and have no desire to watch it again. If you wish to purchase Planet Earth, buy the BBC version original called Planet Earth. It comes with 5 discs and forget about Planet Earth II.

Absolutely Brilliant
The BBC has always set the world standard for nature programming, and Planet Earth II takes it to yet another level. The photography is simply phenomenal, showing what's possible by sparing no expense for filming equipment and having the patience to capture the most spectacular, iconic moments in earth's wildest places. The amount of aerial photography is particularly striking. You wonder how it's possible to fly a plane or helicopter or drone a few feet above storm-crazed seas. Almost every frame in this series could be framed and put on the wall. And then there's the unparalleled excellence of David Attenborough's narration, always carefully researched, loaded with insights, enhancing the power of the images. Add to this the use of highest quality natural sounds, a key to giving viewers a sense of intimacy and connection to what's being shown. Given that most of us can't afford to visit all of these places and witness all of these events in person, there's simply no better way to experience planet earth than by watching this series. I sometimes feel frustrated by the near complete absence of commentary or insight about the depletion of nature by human greed and negligence. But by showing an enormous and diverse audience the beauty and richness of our natural world, the BBC is showing us--rather than telling us--why we should stand up, speak out, and vote yes for wildlife, for wild places, and for the protection of the planet that gives life to every one of us.

Music and species-ism can be annoying
Beautiful photography and great narration; but I really dislike the "coded" music that tells us for which animals too "root," and which creatures are "cute" -- at times it's downright Disneyfied. NO music would be ideal. "Cutesy" music for raccoon kits; sinister music when snakes are approaching; sweeping music when a hawk is chasing a smaller bird or ... I don't like it at all. I don't like the anthropomorphism either. There is clear species bias and I guess it's unavoidable, given the target audience. I just wish there were NO MUSIC!!! My favorite parts tended to be the diaries; what inventive and daring people, these videographers and trekkers!

Very good show.
I love the BBC/PBS nature shows. They are very entertaining and very interesting. I have watched my Planet Earth 1 series several times. I learn something new every time I watch. I have seen PE II only once on PBS, so I have a chance now to see it as many times as I want.

wonderfully interesting and entertaining
this is the 2nd of the planet earth series and is so well done. the narrator is clear, easy to understand and interesting. the photography is unbelievable and i highly recommend both planet earth I and II for all nature lovers and those who appreciate our earth.

Breath taking photography!
This is a program you just want to watch over and over again. I don't have cable, or internet at home, so I DO watch this over and over again. STILL not tired of it! Cheers!

Pale Blue Dot
You would have to buy a helicopter, hire professional pilots and photographers with high tech cameras to experience our planet like this series does for you. Or, you could simply own the series for yourself and see planet Earth in all it's splendiferous glory....What a wonderful world this is...
