Fantastic Image
This projector has a fantastic image, extremely quite, and easy to use and configure. We've watched movies, live sports, and television with no issues and amazing viewing experience. In addition, we do a lot of sports (soccer) gaming and it is phenomenal! For the price, there isn't a better projector on the market unless you spend a minimum of $1K more. For our media room (low ambient light), this is a perfect projector.

Great picture.
I originally bought a BenQ after reading the reviews, and liking the price. I was somewhat disappointed though with the picture, mostly the black levels, after having plasmas the last 15 years. So I decided if I’m gonna spend a chunk of money, I might as well be happy with the projector. I returned the BenQ, and decided to get the Sony. It might be twice the price, but trust me, it’s three times as good. Black levels are way better, it’s easier to set up, with much more flexibility in mounting thanks to a much larger vertical/horizontal lens shift,(not keystone), and doesn’t have the annoying clicking sound of the dlp color wheel on the BenQ. Couldn’t be happier! Get a calibration disc, spend an hour adjusting, and have an amazing picture twice the size of your current tv. It’s like I have a 100”plasma now.

First time purchase on eBay
First time that we have used eBay, we purchased a Sony VPL-HW 40ES projector. Delivery was as promised, the unit was well packaged. Installation was easy, the result was also great, good quality picture, good colours. We are very happy with this product and will consider other purchases via eBay in the future.

Solid projector
The projector is a solid quality projector and I would recommend it to anyone especially based on the performance/quality to price. It is very quiet and produces bright image, granted we have it installed in a windowless media room. I really enjoy this projector and wish that I would have ordered it sooner.

Great projector
Had been using a 74" DLP and this doesn't handle motion as well, but that's really a minor criticism. 10' screen looks phenomenal, even with some light, not a lot, in the room. Of course best in total darkness. Recommended.

worth every dollar
good quality picture... easy to set up not to heavy ...the only throwback a little to big for what I had in mind .....but very please for the money

Why buy a TV if you can get a projector?
The VPL-HW40ES is simply one of the best 'bang for the buck' projectors you can buy - especially at this price. I have mine set up in a light controlled room, so I can't really review for bright environment/typical living room. However - in a media room - it is FANTASTIC. My wife went in to this project hating projectors, thinking they looked blurry/washed out. She's amazed now what a real projector looks like! She's on board, and we now have a 125" screen to watch! I was a bit nervous not buying from an authorized dealer, but avdeals' quick responses and advertised warranty made me feel a bit more comfortable. The projector arrived very quickly, and the shipping box was even packed inside an additional box - very nice! I set it up, and so far so good, everything operating perfectly. The only drawback - was this included a free mount. The mount only supports 18lbs, yet the projector is 21lbs. That's not something I'm willing to risk, so purchased another mount ($25). This is minor compared to the $1k saved over retail pricing.

AMAZING
Picture and blacks are groundbreaking! If you are inbetween a 900$ projector like epson 2045 or even 3700, spend the extra couple dollars, it is worth it. Picture wins dramatically all day.

Sony Projector delivers!
The projector is a high quality unit. The picture is crisp. The fan is quite. The initial setup was straight forward enhancing my overall satisfaction. I found a manual on line that was better than the one included with the unit.
