    Great Tool If You Know What Your Doing

    This is an excellent sharpening system for people who know what they are doing and understand the angles. The little angle assistant provided with this is entirely inadequate for someone just learning. It will not lock in place and an unsteady hand will destroy blades rather than sharpen them. I don't use an angle guide personally because I sharpen my blades at different angles depending on the use of it so I think this is great. Since it's just a tiny piece of plastic sitting on top of the stone it's easy to get out of the way. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE WHO ISN'T ALREADY FAMILIAR WITH ANGLES OF EDGES AND HOW TO PROPERLY SHARPEN A KNIFE. Otherwise I highly recommend this product as a much cheaper alternative to some expensive sharpeners out there.

    Good sharpener

    I’ve used this type of sharpening stones for years. While I will rarely use the coarser stones it’s good to have them for a new knife or repairing the edge on a damaged one. The Smith products have always been of good quality in my opinion.

    Quick and easy!

    Once set up and stones have the proper oil it does a great job of sharpening your knives. If you just need a quick deburring just use your preferred stone, ten quick passes and your done. Have a pouch made to hold it and the oil so I can take it in the field. Having each of the stones set in so they are firm and not moving with you as you push the blade across it then rapidly turn the stones up in grit till the job is done.

    Works for small to medium size blades

    Inexpensive and easy to use, the smith tri-hone has put a fine edge on my pocketknives and smaller kitchen blade. I would recommend this purchase for the price it is a good system.

    Got this in and sharpened my pocket knife, and a great job!! Use to cut steaks many years ago and used this type of sharpener. Glad to find this!!
