The Night He Came Home...
Halloween is regarded as a horror classic, receiving acclaim and success on a very small budget. As michael slashed his way through the film reels, so too did he slash his way into the hearts of horror fans everywhere. Nearly 40 years later, the film still holds as one of the very best slasher films out there. The 35th anniversary edition bluray is crafted for Halloween fans. Boasting new special features and a booklet detailing the storied success of John Carpenter's masterpiece, it has almost everything. I say almost as there is a notable exemption from the special features that had been included in the DVD and original bluray versions. Also missing is the fast facts feature available on a previous release.Despite these omissions, this set does offer something better. The special footage shot for TV is contained in the special features, and although it is only viewable separate from the movie, the scenes provide great incite into key plot points only revealed in the sequels and book adaptations. Another key feature chronicles Jamie Lee Curtis getting in touch with her horror roots as well as the fans of Halloween in an hour long mini movie. The menu design is also well done, although a step down from previous releases animated menus. Overall, a wonderful set that will rival any previous edition's offerings with some of its own.
