Everyone knows someone like Miriam Knight (Stockard Channing, THE WEST WING). Dumpy, unpopular, and picked on by everyone, she wants nothing more than to blend into the woodwork and be left alone. One day, Miriam hits an all-time low when, after a campus meathead breaks her heart, she drives away in tears and suffers a terrible car accident. As a result, she must undergo extensive plastic surgery. Emerging from her bandages a now-beautiful woman, Miriam determines to extract revenge on those who have wronged her, and begins killing them off in comically creative ways. Eventually, Detective Ralph Varone (Edward Asner, ELF, JFK) picks up her trail, but he too finds himself falling prey to Miriam's charms. This dark comedy was penned by Joan Rivers (ANOTHER WORLD).

Misfit Strikes Back
If you were a misfit, geek, or simply plain looking in high school, this is a very enjoyable "revenge" tale by an excellent cast. It's well worth the time to sit back and delight in one of Stockard Channing's early starring roles.

My Earliest Memory
I bought this movie because the scene with Stockard Channing in all the bandages is my very first memory in life. I spent most of my life not knowing the name of this old TV movie and after typing in various search terms, I finally found out that it was this movie. I can't say it's my favorite movie ever, but it has this value to me strictly for sentimental reasons.

lovely payback film
I remembered this fondly and it is still very good. Stockard Channing is amazing as the frump turned swan and Ed Asner a treat.

Dark, twisted humor
When first saw this movie it was intriguing. It stayed in my mind for decades. The humor is off beat and dark. The running time is short and to the point without trying to add in some unnecessary depth and semi-dramatic storyline.

Great black comedy
Co-written by Joan Rivers, this is a blisteringly funny movie about a bullied ugly duckling taking her revenge.
