  • Fun to play instrument.

I had a Rogue Lap Steel Guitar once before, but a family member was interested in it, and I didn't have time to practice, so I gave it away. Now I have the time, so I decided to purchase a new one. It is an entry level instrument, but it is very enjoyable and an excellent guitar to learn and improve on. It is light weight and the legs are easy to attach. You may want to change the strings for a heavier gauge, but that is a rather inexpensive way to upgrade. Overall, good value for the price.

  • Good buy.

Good starter instrument, sounds good, no problems with my unit, I don't use the legs so can't comment on those issues some have had with. Does seem a little rough around the leg socket inserts but doesn't affect the playablilty for me. Having fun with it. An excellent value, for the price you can't beat it. It comes with a nice gig bag of suprising quality also. The strings aren't bad either.

  • Worth the price without a doubt

If you want a top-end lap-steel, or if playing lap-steel is your main priority, then you should probably spend the money to get a higher-end instrument. If you're like me, and just wanted to try a lap-steel, the Rogue is a great place to start. I own about two dozen high-end traditional guitars - the brands/models you would know. I've played for 40+ years, but never owned/tried a lap-steel. For the price, I figured I'd try it if only to stay inspired to play. I have no problem recommending this instrument. It stays in tune surprisingly well and is very playable. It's motivated me to try something different. And for under $80, even if I only end up playing it once a month, it's well worth the cost.

  • Yes, a good value

Surprisingly good value. As other have mentioned, the legs are cheap, but I don't care about those. Everything on mine works fine, including the tuners. I swapped the single coil pickup (it's a decent, if low output unit) for a twin blade to stop any hum, and shielded the cavity while I was at it. It's easy to work on because of the removable control plate. The Strat bridge, for some reason, was intonated like a regular guitar, which is wrong for a steel, but it's easy enough to fix that. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the way they did the fingerboard markings, but that is a personal preference.

  • Entry-level lap steel good bang for the buck!

For an entry-level lap steel, it's pretty good. I'd been "lap curious" for a while, playing slide on a regular guitar in open tunings, so when this was "Stupid Deal of the Day" I took a chance on it. Came with gig bag & legs all packaged neatly. Finish looks good, body is some kind of wood I guess. It sounds pretty sweet in a retro kinda way, has one anonymous single-coil pickup w/ plastic cover. Pots work fine, no crackles. Tuners are a bit sloppy, like an eighth turn of slack before the post turns, that would be the first upgrade I'd do. Fortunately it's inexpensive enough that a few upgraded pieces still puts it far below other steels in cost. Might have to get two or three & keep 'em in different tunings!

  • It's great, just the wrong color

I really do like it. I need to get heavier strings for it. The strings that came with it are very thin. I was disappointed at first. The description I read when I bought it said it was metallic blue. And that's what I wanted. A blue lap steel. It is metallic green. I don't like the color green a whole lot. So I tuned it up and started playing on it. I enjoyed it. It will sound better once I change the strings. And I guess the color would have had more appeal if it was blue. But it's fun to play and makes a great starter instrument. Maybe when I upgrade I'll get the color I want.

  • Good 'starter' instrument

Product seems to be well-made, sturdy. The single coil pickup renders it a little twangy, bright. I put a set of extremely heavy strings on it as the lighter gauge strings got a bit sloppy with lower tunings. Seemed to help. It's a thick plank of wood, so most clip-on guitar tuners won't work. Use a D'darrio violin tuner. If you want to try your hand at lap steel this instrument will certainly get you started.

  • Very Nice Lap Guitar

Very nice lap guitar. I'm 70 and have been buying stringed instruments most of my adult life. This is an inexpensive instrument and I am exceedingly happy with my purchase. The instrument looks and sounds great. Very nice quality for an instrument under $100. Definitely would recommend to a friend.

  • Good for the price.

For the price you can’t beat it. I’m going to not rely on the legs because I don’t think they’ll last too long and I want them when I absolutely need them longer term. I think I’ll use a keyboard stand. But they are there if I need them. I haven’t plugged it in yet but I trust it sounds ok pickup looks in order. First thing to do out of the box is arrange all of the bridge saddles even. They come staggered like you’d expect on a fretted instrument. Small enough to keep in the car for extended waiting periods to pull out and practice I say just get one don’t think then if you want a more expensive one later you can double neck it on a guitar case.

  • Great Lap Steel

Amazing. Look way better for real than the picture, which was a nice surprise (metallic blue). Nice legs too. The pickup is doing the job and the pots are smooths and quiets, with the right resistance (rotation). You can do nice volume pedal effect without a volume pedal just by using the volume pot which is perfectly located for that. The only update I would do on this is a brass nut instead of the plastic one.
